HISTORY

Since 1908 Nedlands Park Hotel has etched its own rich and colourful mark in the history of Perth. Stephen McHenry bought the lease of the hotel in 1935, which became commonly known as Steve's. His son Murray McHenry purchased the freehold from the Swan Brewery back in 1977, with commitment to the authenticity of the establishment.

Restoration and renovations began, today focused on the high quality of food, wine and beer.

Nedlands Park Hotel has been catering for unquenchable thirst for 97 years, home to many laughs, friendly gatherings and happy memories. With uninterrupted views of the beautiful Swan River, the hotel features atmosphere of historic riverside charm and relaxed style.

FUTURE

The days of the suburban pub such as Steve's, which can hold some 2000 people, has become increasingly difficult to operate and maintain a balance with the residential community surrounding it. In particular, on nights the traditional trade that is students, frequent this great hotel.

Over the past four years, the owner Mr McHenry has been working with the City of Nedlands Planners as part of the revision of their planning scheme to change the use of the land currently used by Steve's Hotel.

The conditions required by the council and heritage council of WA as to the heritage value to the community are fully supported by the family who have owned and operated this hotel since 1935.
