A word on our wine reviews listed on this site;
Where possible we use reviews from The Wine Front, Robert Parker Online, and Alan Meadows Burghound. We highly recommend these sources and encourage any serious wine lovers to subscribe to these sites.
We believe these sources provide the best, non biased, and consistent reviews. These sources also score wines fairly and comparable to wine writers around the world, so when a wine is scored highly, it is not saying "this is good for a Barossa Cabernet" or "this is good for a quaffing wine" rather "the attributes of this wine deserve this score".
It is also important to note that many writers are reluctant to score below 90, when in fact a wine scoring say 88, is deemed to still be of excellent quality. For this reason in Australia we generally use the 20 Point system (also 17.5/20 seems to sound better than 87.5/100).
100 Point Scale;

96-100: (A+)
An extraordinary wine of profound and complex character displaying all the attributes expected of a classic wine of its variety. Wines of this caliber are worth a special effort to find, purchase, and consume. |

90 - 95: (A)
An outstanding wine of exceptional complexity and character. In short, these are terrific wines. |

80 - 89: (B)
A barely above average to very good wine displaying various degrees of finesse and flavor as well as character with no noticeable flaws. |

70 - 79: (C)
An average wine with little distinction except that it is a soundly made. In essence, a straightforward, innocuous wine. |

60 - 69: (D)
A below average wine containing noticeable deficiencies, such as excessive acidity and/or tannin, an absence of flavor, or possibly dirty aromas or flavors. |

50 - 59: (F)
A wine deemed to be unacceptable.
20 Point Scale;
17 - 20 Wines of outstanding characteristics having no defects
13 - 16 Standard wines with neither outstanding character or defect
9 - 12 Wines of commercial acceptability with noticeable defects
5 - 8 Wines below commercial acceptability
1 - 5 Completely spoiled wines
